MTBF for Sony Cameras

I guess it’s generally fair to say electronics are becoming more reliable, and our expectations are they should last longer, but also have this fear thatSNC-HM662 most products are built to have a relatively short life cycle.

I remember reading a few weeks ago that iPhones are designed to last 3 years, although I have not had any major issue with any that I have purchased since they have been available in Australia.  All Sony cameras come with a 3 year warranty, and they also publish actual MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) figures for all their cameras.  Below are the figures for the current range of cameras.  And yes the figures for the SNC-HM662 are correct….  That’s 182.6 years between failures, so if you are looking for a camera to last a few lifetimes, then you need look no further.
